    These are my first ever digitally drawn character poses. Character posing has always been a favorite of mine. In my view, both the fluidity and strength of a pose can influence a piece of art substantially and can evoke much emotion. I thoroughly enjoyed translating this to the digital form having first explored this area first in pencil.

    In my first attempt I wanted to explore a wide range of emotions. I chose four opposing emotions to create an interesting group of characters. I then attempted some light rendering to help bring them to life. Please see below some initial sketches of alternate poses, use of foreshortening, close-ups and a few hand pose sketches I did alongside these.

    These are my first ever digitally drawn head poses. Being new to digital art and using a drawing tablet I wanted to practice these for future artworks focusing on proportion and rotation of the head in 3D space. Having achieved similar results through pencil drawings it was good to translate that skill to the digital form.

    Pixel Tarot Cards – Major Arcana

    This artwork was inspired by my desire to create a video game utilising tarot cards as a key feature of progression and story telling. In addition, being a fan of Balatro (a card game utilising tarot cards) it gave me the idea to create my own more detailed and colour versions. These artworks are based on the Major Arcana cards found in the famous Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot Deck published in 1909.

    Metal Gear Solid 3 (Delta): Snake Eater – Big Boss

    This artwork was inspired by the new release of Metal Gear Solid 3 (Delta): Snake Eater published by Konami. Having completed nearly all of the mainline series I’m a fan of the characters and story. This is a portrait of Big Boss, a legendary and recognizable character in video games. I wanted to create this iconic character in the comic book style rendering with thick inks, dramatic lighting and clear purposeful lines.
